A plain-language explanation. The full version is below — there is no fine print hidden anywhere.
Decode My Lab is a small, independent service that reads thyroid lab results and emails back a written interpretation. We are not a clinic. We do not employ doctors. The service is educational — not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
When you submit the form, we collect:
That is the complete list. We do not ask for your full name, address, date of birth, Medicare number, or any other identifier. If your uploaded file contains identifiers we don't need — for example, a Medicare number printed in the header of your pathology report — we do not extract or store them separately.
By submitting the form, you consent to us collecting your health information — your lab results — solely to produce your written interpretation. This is the only purpose for which your health information is used.
We do not use cookies for tracking. We do not run analytics that identify you. We do not run advertising of any kind.
A member of our team reviews your file and produces your report.
Your file is deleted thirty days after we send the report. Your email address is kept until you ask us to remove it.
The review of your file and the production of your report happen outside Australia. The supporting tools we use to receive your form submission, draft your report, and send it to your inbox are based in the United States. By using this service, you consent to your information being processed by these overseas tools for the purpose of delivering your report.
We do not sell your data. We do not share it for marketing. We do not use it to train AI models. If we ever decide to use anonymised, aggregated patterns from interpretations to improve our methodology, we will update this page and ask for your explicit consent first. We are not doing this today.

We respond within seven days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner: oaic.gov.au, or call 1300 363 992.
If we discover a breach that is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify the people affected directly and inform the regulator.
If we change how we handle your data, we will update this page and update the date at the top. For any change that expands what we collect or how we use it, we will email everyone whose email address we still hold before the change takes effect.
